Largest Contentful Paint
Serve hero images in AVIF or WebP, preload them, use responsive sizes and avoid rendering the hero on the client. Fonts should be self-hosted with font-display swap.
Interaction to Next Paint
Break up long JavaScript tasks, defer third-party scripts and keep hydration lean. Server components in Next.js are a huge win here.
Cumulative Layout Shift
Always reserve space for images, ads and embeds. Avoid injecting content above existing content after load.
Measure continuously
Set up real-user monitoring and a Lighthouse CI budget so regressions are caught before they reach production.
